YES Scholars

This scholarship program is for youth who demonstrate the potential for academic success and who want to prepare for post-secondary education.

About

The YES Scholarship Program is designed for youth who demonstrate potential for academic success and who want to prepare for post-secondary education. Each year, thirty 8th-grade students from KCKPS are selected to become YES Scholars. YES Scholars Applications are available each April for 8th graders to apply (must also be in Talent Search).

During high school, scholars will complete a series of Talent Seach activities (e.g., a 3-day summer program at KCKCC, 100 hours of community service, yearly family engagement activities, advising, tutoring if GPA falls below the required 2.00, academic workshops). Upon completion of these requirements, YES Scholars will earn a two-year scholarship to attend KCKCC

The YES Scholarship Program is a partnership between KU TRIO Talent Search and Kansas City Kansas Community College (KCKCC)
